Yes. The information shared in a financial aid application is a available only to our Financial Aid Committee and the individuals providing the information.

When evaluating a family’s need, The Financial Aid Committee considers not only income but also the more complete financial profile of the family which takes into account assets including home ownership, investments, and savings. We also consider debt, regular living expenses, sibling tuition at other income-charging schools, and any unusual expenses from the previous year.

Yes. Each year all families requesting financial aid apply for it using the same process. This is true whether or not a family’s financial situation has changed and ensures that we distribute financial aid in an equitable manner.

Valley asks that families share changing circumstances that may result in qualification for more or less financial aid. This includes families who have qualified for aid in the past and families that have not received financial aid in the past.

The school considers the assets of all custodial parents/guardians and their spouses and domestic partners when evaluating need, regardless of whether the family has made independent arrangements regarding finances and education. It is the responsibility the parent applying to ensure that all required adults complete the financial aid application.

All information submitted through the financial aid application process is kept strictly confidential. In the case of separated or divorced parents/guardians, each person submits a separate Personal Financial Statement, and The Valley School will communicate with each family unit separately to maintain confidentiality. The School does not share individuals' Personal Financial Statements with others.
